The more we seek the positive, the more we carry the negative along

Emptiness is a natural state.

On one hand, emptiness is stillness,

A part of our nature,

The birthplace of wisdom.

Yet people assign to it

A negative meaning,

And so, they are always seeking

Something to fill it.

People mistake happiness

For fleeting highs,

And endlessly chase

The next emotional rise.

But all things exist

In the dance of yin and yang —

Where there is yang, there is yin.

The more we seek the positive,

The more we carry the negative along.

The harder we try to be positive,

The easier we fall into sorrow.

Stillness — needs no effort.

Imagine yourself as a lake:

At night, reflecting the moon,

By day, catching the sun.

When the sky is clear,

Clouds will come,

Storms will come,

And the sun will shine again.

All things turn and return.

Let our lake remain at ease —

For we are not all these passing phenomena.

We do not chase the sun,

Nor flee from the rain,

For sun and rain belong to the sky.

For the moon waxes and wanes on its own.

For the lake only needs to be still —

To be clear.
